Novelist and short story writer in Malayalam. Was Professor of Malayalam. Won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for her novel Aalahayude Penmakkal (Daughters of God the Father) besides other awards for literature. Social activist.
Has been at the forefront of the feminist movement in Kerala and is the founder of Manushi, a non-governmental organisation of women.
